ACERGY Ocean Engineering Scholarship, Australia

Bachelor of Engineering (Ocean Engineering)

ACERGY are in Western Australia, and are a seabed-to-surface engineering and construction contractor to the offshore oil and gas industry worldwide. They provide integrated services, and plan, design and deliver complex projects in harsh and challenging environments.

ACERGY will offer a competitive Scholarship in 2012 that will include a work placement (November 2011 – February 2012). The scholarship is aimed at potential Bachelor of Engineering (Ocean Engineering) degree students that will commence their fourth year in 2012.
Applicants should have demonstrated excellence in the third year of study, show leadership potential, and will also be subject to an interview process with AMC and ACERGY panel, as part of this scholarship award, successful candidates would undertake a work placement between (November 2011 – February 2012) with ACERGY.
The scholarship will provide a stipend of up to $15,000
(The recipient will receive $10,000 during the academic year March to December, and the rate per work day over the summer placement will be $100 per day approx 10 weeks)
The ACERGY Scholarship is offered to one 3rd year AMC student undertaking;
• Bachelor of Engineering (Ocean Engineering)

Eligibility
Applicants should be:
• Year 3 students enrolled in the above degree at AMC in 2011.
• Australian Citizen, Permanent Residents or Holders of a Humanitarian Visa

Selection Criteria
Selection for the ACERGY Maritime Engineering Award will be based on the following criteria;
• Sound academic record
• Leadership potential demonstrated by involvement in university, work or community activities
• Creativity and innovation demonstrated by participation in practical exercises, individual or team projects, or exercises as part of the university curricular or extra- curricular activities

The application should address the selection criteria and include;
• A copy of academic transcript;
• A brief statement from the applicant outlining his/her long term goals and the benefits he/she hopes to derive from the award;
• A curriculum vitae, including any community leadership or service activities in which the applicant has participated;
• A confidential reference attesting to the applicant’s academic ability, motivation and participation in the university or community activities (see attached form)
• The applicant should forward the blank copy of the confidential referee form the selected referee;
• The referee should forward the completed form attached to Di Hazelwood, Coordinator Scholarships and Prizes.

Closing date and application procedure
Applications should be made on the attached ACERGY Award form and submitted, together with any supporting documentation, to Di Hazelwood, Co-ordinator Scholarships and Prizes, before 30 September, 2011
